These are just a few of the common sayings of many soon-to-be graduates as the transition into legitimate adulthood begins. As children, this has been the moment that many have been waiting for; to walk across that stage ready for those childhood dreams to come true-still holding on to that kid-like naivety that things will simply happen for you because you graduated. Quite the contrary.
During her time in college, Alexis Thrower, encountered many counter parts making such statements without the action to ensure their work led to a job within their field after college. Observing where her counter parts slacked, she developed practices that worked for her. Coupled with her faith she created the "Game Plan" to ensure she was employable within her field of study after immediately graduating.
Figuring Sh*t Out: The Guidebook for Landing a Job Within Your Field of Study Fresh Out of College breaks down the steps Thrower took while still in undergrad to support her job search endeavors. Throughout the journey, she talks about her personal experiences and encounters that led her to taking these steps - which paid off! Alexis Thrower was offered a job immediately after graduating as a News Producer. This opened the floodgates for several on-air opportunities as a full-time anchor and reporter. She wrote this guidebook to help all students, regardless of their industry, succeed in pursuing their career dreams.
About the Author
Alexis Thrower attended Cal State LA, where she double majored in communications and television, film, and media studies with an option in journalism. Even after landing a job within her field post-undergrad, she went on the pursue and obtain her master's degree in communication from John Hopkins University. Thrower is currently working as a reported in Shreveport, LA.
A competitive dancer for many years, getting phenomenal training in the disciplines of ballet, jazz, hip hop, and modern, coupled with her performing arts background in the church, acted as great foundation in developing her performance and delivery skills that she uses to this day.
In her spare time, Thrower volunteers to assist in the classroom to support the education of young kids in her community - h
